The Warrentinna
gold project is located 60km northeast of Launceston in north
eastern Tasmania. It comprises two contiguous tenements for 168
sq kms.
It covers four historic goldfields of Warrentinna,
Forester, Southern Cross and Waterhouse. These goldfields were
worked from the late 1800s to the mid 1900s. Gold was taken from
surface and underground workings that accessed high-grade quartz
lodes.
Work by Greatland at the southern two goldfields
of Warrentinna and Forester has returned numerous high gold results
from the many historic workings. Results include 464g/t gold (14.9
ounces per tonne), 130g/t gold (4.2 ounces per tonne) and 61g/t
gold (1.9 ounces per tonne) confirming the high grade nature of
mineralisation. Both these goldfields cover around 6km of strike
each and there is scope for a large resource. The additional two
goldfields in the north of the Warrentinna project area are yet
to be fully evaluated.

The geology of the Warrentinna project is similar
to that of the Victorian goldfields in south eastern Australia.
These have produced over 30 million ounces of gold since the 1850s.
The Company's first RC drill program was completed in 2008 and returned intercepts up to 1m at 7.07g/t gold at the Derby North prospect at the southern Warrentinna goldfield.
Formed roads are throughout the tenement that
covers a strike of approximately 30km. Local infrastructure is
good with sealed and formed roads, electricity, water, and local
towns for accommodation and supply points.
Within the historic goldfields of Warrentinna,
Forester, Southern Cross and Waterhouse gold and associated sulphide
mineralisation is found in quartz veins hosted by metasediments
of the Mathinna Group. Most gold production was between 1880 and
1921 from high-grade lodes. Although numerous localities are recorded,
official production figures are minimal and many of the historically
mined gold occurrences are poorly located and inadequately documented.
Limited work by previous explorers returned rockchip
results including 18.7g/t Au at Forester, 8.01g/t Au at Warrentinna,
and 15.2g/t from Waterhouse. Soil results were up to 1,342ppb
Au at Waterhouse, 592ppb Au at Warrentinna, and 100ppb Au at Forester.
There is exploration potential within the project
area for the discovery of high-grade shoots beneath known shallow
historical workings and within unmined quartz-lodes. There is
also potential for the discovery of larger tonnages of lower-grade
mineralisation adjacent to quartz lodes.
Greatland has access to a significant strike length
of gold prospective stratigraphy that includes four historic goldfields.
High grade gold has previously been taken from these goldfields
but they have not been subject to significant modern exploration
efforts. Greatland aims to capitalise on its strategic landholding
by conducting efficient regional and prospect scale exploration
programs to realise the projects gold potential.
